Mount the pinion shaft assembly in the pump frame from the right or left side passing it through the right side of the pump. Make sure that the oil passage holes on the bearing seat are aligned with that of the retaining plate below the horizontal centerline and turned to the back of the power end. When mounting the oil seal on the pinion shaft bearing’s retainers, care should be taken not to do damage to their sealing lips.
Fasten the ring gear to the crankshaft with screws. Mount the inner races of the bearings at the big ends of the connecting rods. The shim thickness equals the thickness measured minus 0.05-0.15mm. Mount their outer races. The shim thickness equals the difference between the width of the outer race and that of the connecting rod minus 0.08-0.18mm. The shim thickness for the crosshead pin is equal to the actual clearance minus 0.05-0.15mm. The retainers and the main bearings are not to be mounted yet.
Mount the guides. Measure out the diameters of the guides and crosshead respectively and then adjust the guides with shims. The clearance between the guides and crosshead shall be within 0.25-0.5mm. The lower guide shall be fastened with a seal ring to prevent oil leakage.
Put the assembled crankshaft assembly in the pump frame by a crane. Mount the heated bearing and its capsule onto the crankshaft against its shoulder. Make sure that the oil holes ZG1/2″ are on the horizontal centerline and turned to the back. Cover the bearing cover and tighten two nuts.
With the center crosshead pressed, mount the right and lift crossheads’ pins and press them with the retainers and screws. The centerlines of the three connecting rods shall be aligned with those of the holes for the guides on the frame respectively.
With the main bearings cooled, tightly press the inner races of the bearings with the retainers.
Mount the oil troughs and wipers. The distance between the wipers and gear shall be as short as possible, but no touching the oil troughs and wipers is permissible. Tighten bolts. With the adjustment finished, weld them together.
Adjust the gear on the pinion shaft against the crankshaft and then mount the bearing covers and other parts.
Mount the center crosshead to the small end of the connecting rod and then mount the right and left crossheads thereto.
Mount the intermediate rods and their seal rings successively.
